Does The US Need Any More Bad Press? And Now The Rape Trial!

Can things get any worse for the US in the Middle East? We already have such a poor image in the area and now worldwide attention is focused on the rape trial of a young Iraqi girl who was 14 years old, gang raped by American soldiers who then killed her whole family.

In a Muslim society where female modesty is paramount, where woman may not show their faces to other than close family members, where men and women are separated to prevent men from being inflamed by the female presence, we have a very sordid and clearly premeditated crime of such heinous nature riding the headlines of the Press internationally.

As Muslim Fundamentalist read the articles they must feel that their impressions of Americans are justified as sexually depraved people, infidels who have no respect for women and family, and people whose presence must be removed to protect their women, children, and families.

I myself am totally sickened by the news and the callous nature used to perpetrate this crime. Do US soldiers not receive some kind of protocol education, emotional support, cultural training, before they are sent over? Are American soldiers not screened before being enlisted? Is America so desperate for bodies in Iraq, that they will allow any ruffian to be in the military? Where is the atonement to the community for this act? Yes we have justice being played out in front of us, but this is American justice. Will the Muslim Fundamentalist in Iraq accept the decision? Will America enact the death penalty for these criminal?
