President Bush Outed On CIA Prisons

Finally, George Bush has publicly acknowledged and is making changes in the administration of secret CIA prisons in foreign countries. These prisons are not new news, as there was talk several months ago, when the Washington Post broke the story, but addressing administration and interrogation tactics is a very important public change for the Bush administration.

I do want American and the world to be safe and it is important to interrogate prisoners to get the information, but when Americans decide that getting information should be done at any cost including torture then we are walking down a very slippery slope.

Americans must be governed by the Geneva Conventions in everything that we do with our political prisoner or we are no better than the people whom we are fighting! America is the protector and advocate for freedom and justice, to treat insurgents with terroristic techniques is inherently wrong.

We can not sell our soul for information.

I do advocate finding out what is going on in networks from the leaders that are captured. But there are other ways than waterboarding prisoners (giving them the sensation of drowning), or exposing them to nudity (against their religious views), using animals to terrorize them, or using extreme deprivation to get this information.

America must never sink so low as to treat terrorist criminal as they would treat us, that would be a greater injustice and a betrayal of our national dignity.

Who say there has been torture? Maybe the 'Stockholm Syndrome' kicked in.

The Stokholm Syndrome that Fran refers to is where a prisoner starts to side with their captors. It is a factor brought on by the stress of the situation.

Consider the Patti Hurst situation where she become a terrorist with her captors.

Personally I do not think that the captives in Guantanamo are siding with the US. They are turning to suicide and hunger strikes. I do not think that they are experiencing the Stockholm Syndrome in this case.
