President Bush Is Not All Wrong

Here is an opposing point of view from the last two blog posts. First tell me what view you favor out of the most recent three blog posts by voting and leaving your comments by clicking the comment link and then comments in the new screen and saying who you think is right, me The Watcher, Secret Citizen, or Straight Talk.

Now why I don't think that George Bush has it wrong...

Even George Bush must admit that some mistakes have been made in the Iraq War and War on Terror, but President Bush has also done a great number of things right. The last two blog posts point out what Bush and his administration have done wrong so I do not need to hash over those issues, but, here's what I think he has done right:

  1. Moved the most violent terrorist theatre out of America and into a location where we have a strong military presence and where are military is more equipped to deal with the problem protecting Americans.
  2. Worked to create a worldwide multi-country support network to share information on terrorists, identified terrorist networks, and communicated possible threats for countries allowing them to prepare, in advance when possible, to thwart an attack.
  3. Brought to the forefront of the news the incredible complexity of the issue of Islamic Extremist terrorism.
  4. Made a concerted, although not entirely successful effort, but certainly better than any other country, to bring al Qaeda leaders to justice and to break up al Qaeda networks.
  5. Enhanced homeland and airport security. Remember the good old days when you didn't have to take your shoes off to get on an airplane?
  6. Honestly tried to prevent more attacks on Americans here in the US and abroad by improved communication with other country operatives and the interrogation of military combatants we do have in custody.
  7. Has stood by our boys in the military and worked hard to protect them, empower them with additional funding, and stayed true and loyal to the long term goal of a better world for those in the Middle East even when everyone around him is focused on the short term.
  8. Has shown compassion and concern when meeting with grieving parents and loved ones. He has been a truly compassionate leader.
  9. He has been a leader unlike others we have had in the not so distant past who lean the way the wind of popularity blows. He has charted his own course and stood by it even in adversity. He has a vision for America and the Middle East that is being thwarted by other powerful politicians who do not share his vision.

These are just a few of the things that President Bush is doing right. If you have others to add, just click comments and leave what you think he is doing right from your point of view.

It is easy to point fingers at Bush, but if you had been faced with making some of these hard choices if you had been President how would you have stacked up?

President Bush could have done at least 8 of those 10 things right without waging a "war on terror" that has lasted longer than the civil war, world war 1 and world war 2, and that has no foreseeable end. He also could have done those things without proclaiming himself unchecked executive power and breaking the constitution several times. We are all in danger when we have a leader with absolutely no system of checks and balances.

I agree with the previous post. Your comments raise some good points, but like the previous commenter, many of those things could have been done without having to wage war on Iraq and throwing the country into a civil war where we are unable to extricaate ourselves.
