Get Out Your Crystal Ball What Do You Think Will Happen With Iraq?

The readers of the Fire With Fire Book Blog love to vote and say what they think. So, here's another chance to do just that. I will lay out three scenarios of what will happen to Iraq in the next year...your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to click the comment link and tell me which one you think will come to pass. Certainly not scientific, but that makes it even more fun.

Scenario One
The US will stay in Iraq and pressure will continue against their "occupation". The Iraqi government will finally ask the Americans to leave their country in the fourth quarter of 2007. Violence will escalate until then and there will be mass protests in America demanding the pull out of troops from Iraq.

Scenario Two
The US will start a troop draw down in around June 2007 and set up bases in the Kurd section of the country where the American military is welcome. The Iraqis, now in essence on their own, will suddenly have a decrease in violence which will be thrown around in the press as proof that the American "oppressors" had been the source of conflict and secretarian violence all along. Iran will start humanitarian aid missions and actively work to create a strong partnership with the Iraqi government.

Scenario Three
The American military will stay in Iraq but will consolidate itself only to the area surrounding Baghdad. Violence will continue without abate in Iraq and more civilians and American troops will be killed. American unrest will continue with the Bush policies and the democrats will sweep the November 2006 and November 2007 elections. The areas outside of Baghdad will be controlled by war lords, sheikhs, and clerics. The northern Kurd portion of Iraq will start succession from Iraq to protect itself from the escalating violence that has spread over the rest of the country and the long foretold civil war will start little by little. By the end of 2007, the entire country of Iraq will be in disarray with increasing violence in all sectors. More American troops will be called up and moved to Baghdad to quell the violence but will not be successful in bringing peace to the war torn city.
