The Invisible Terrorists
You hear a lot about Hamas, Hezbollah, al Queda, and the like, but it seems like there is precious little press about long standing terrorist activities that have been plaguing certain parts of the world where you really don't hear much. One of these places is Sri Lanka and activities carried out by terrorists who call themselves the Tamil Tigers. This and its associated Tamil terrorist groups have been waging terrorist activities since the mid 1970's, to obtain a separatist state in Sri Lanka in the northern parts of the country where the Tamils are the ethnic majority, which they almost achieved through a cease fire brokered by the Norwegians in 2001, but it was a ceasefire they did not hold to. Today they continue to terrorize the population with death squads and attacks on civilians. It seems that their activities are supported by donations by Tamils living outside the country. After 30 years the killing and terror goes on in Sri Lanka because of these individuals. Yet, they are completely invisible to the US.
Another invisible terrorist group and perhaps one of the most heinous of the century is the Lord's Resistance Army in northern Uganda. They have waged terror on the people in northern Uganda for decades now, kidnapping children and exposing them to the most horrendous atrocities, forcing them to fight for their cause or be killed, purposely and capriciously maiming and disfiguring villagers, and indiscriminately killing civilians. Like the Tamil Tigers, Lord's Resistance Army has at its core, a leader who feels that the ethnic majority in the north was not given enough respect and autonomy by the southern Ugandans who hold the reins of power in the government. Like the Tamil Tigers, Lord's Resistance Army has held sway and gotten funding to keep up their reign of terror from outside sources, in their case from the Sudanese government that wants to keep Southern Sudan, which abuts Northern Uganda, somewhat unstabilized to keep them weak.
Why is it that we don't hear much about the Lord's Resistance Army or Tamil Tigers in terms of ending terrorism. If western governments were truly devoted to winning a war on terror, as they say they are, why are they not doing anything about either the Tigers or Lord's Army? I can tell you why, because there is not a global war on terror going on at all. It is a battle for control of oil and it involves the the installation of puppet regimes and involves supporting despotic strongmen and royal families who will deal with the west even though they have major human rights abuse records. All so Europeans and Americans have access to cheap (or at least cheaper) petroleum. That is what all this "War on Terror" is really all about. In fact, the US President came out just last week saying that "terrorists will use oil as a weapon if the American s pull out of Iraq.
The politics of fear sown by western governments about the global jihad and culture/class warfare are simply curtains they are hiding behind in order to get their populations behind then to support the continued destabilization and puppetization of Middle Eastern peoples. It is time to let Muslims and Middle Easterners determine their own destiny without western intervention. If there was a true global war on terror as we are told, then western nations would be collaborating with the Sri Lankans to forcefully eliminate the Tamil threat (if indeed that could ever be done) or be working assiduously with the Ugandans to end the terror and genocide going on in the north of that country. But they are not. Actions speak louder than words.
